It’s not always rosey reviews for the Roses as these 2 demonstrate. Record Mirror misses the point in 1988 and the Melody Maker get stuck in back in 1995.

Time to lighten up with what I think is a Smash Hits fluff piece about the Roses – or is it “the new Johnny Hates Jazz!”.
I just love the early press adds for the Silvertone singles. They really captured the Roses vibe and instantly set them apart from their contemporaries.
Here’s a half page one for Elephant Stone. Wish I could fit those full page ones I’ve got onto the scanner!
Let’s party like it’s 1994. Some very nice Second Coming era press adverts.
So I’ve been trawling through my Roses secret vaults for the first time in ages, and thought it was about time that I started sharing some treasures.
In a completely random fashion I’m going to be posting a variety of Roses related bits and bobs.
First up some music press clippings of reviews.
