Sound Quality: C
Vocals very clear. Guitar acoustics are a bit odd. Drums nice and clear, but bass is almost non-existant. Sounds quite good when the music is quiet and softer, but quite bad when it’s loud.

Performance Quality: A
Ian sings well, and the rest of the band put in a good performance too. Passionate and loud – listen past the poor quality sound for a great performance.

Why should I get this bootleg?

To hear how complex Reni’s drumming was in Waterfall, when the guitar stops, leaving only the drums playing. Also to hear Ian’s chats with the crowd. Someone calls out “Ian!” – he replies “What?”, and starts teasing the crowd about how quiet they are.

  1. I was there with members of our band Dreaming Spyres and a few other Scooterists. We wondered if Stone Roses might turn up on theirs.
The lighting rig collapsed from the ceiling, nearly landing on top of the people at the front. Health n Safety wasn’t so intense back then.
The rig was re-hoisted and the show went on.
The noise was deafening so me and my ‘soon to be pregnant’ girlfriend stood on chairs at the back (puffs). Maybe that was the night when we conceived as my son was born in February 1990, that’s 9 months later. We didn’t really know what was going on or who the band were and what they were just about to become.

I think the support act were a band called Kingmaker. Not bad from what I felt about them.

  2. I was there too. Support was The Sandkings whose singer, Jaz Mann, went on to have that dreadful Spaceman hit as Babylon Zoo.
