Roses sell 220,000 tickets

The Stone Roses tickets for Heaton Park shows sold out in 68 minutes.

The first two gigs sold out within 14 minutes of going on sale today with all 150,000 tickets being snapped up. The band then added a third date on which sold out less than an hour later.

Despite the crazy numbers there’s still many disappointed fans out there.

How was it for you?

  1. I am OK for Tickets.. But why have the touts (Scumbags) managed to get 1000s then rip off the real fans???????????
    Your comments please…

  2. got my tickets via a different website instead of ticketmaster, paid alittle more, but worth every single penny 😀 x

  3. I was lucky to get 2 tickets for the opening night… then after I had input my payment details, Ticketmaster screwed up!!! So I got NADA, NISH, ZILCH!!!!! GUTTED!!!!

  4. @Liz – unfortunately it doesn’t work like that. Purchases made online aren’t automatic just because you get to a certain page on the process, until you see confirmation and a number – you have NOT purchased tickets. Inputing payment details doesn’t guarantee anything.

  5. absolutley gutted tried all day on the web sits to get tickets, some bastards putting them straight on Ebay. The real old school fans wont get to see them unless you want to apy through the nose. Anyone have Sir John Squires phone number ?????

  6. Loved them forever, proper true fan. Took the morning off work to get tickets and for what…sweet FA! Now I’m debating whether or not to pay one of the tout prices just so I can get a pair of tickets but then that just encourages the bastards to do it all the time. Absolutely gutted. Hoping for a couple of London dates now. Shoot the touts!

  7. I’m gutted, I spent the best part of an hour and a half this morning on both computer and phone!
No way of getting through, really frustrating.
Just really annoys me that there are people buying up tickets only to sell them on ebay two minutes later. Congratulations to all those true fans who got tickets, lets hope there are more UK dates confirmed. Still can’t believe they are re forming, still can’t believe I haven’t got a ticket?!!

  8. Tried for an hour when Ticketmaster’s website kept crashing…even got to the point where it said ‘you are in a que’…3 minutes to go!….it crashed again! Wouldn’t mind but we have super fast internet…so what chance have you got if that keeps happening? I’m a REAL fan but there is NO WAY I am paying inflated prices. I believe in karma so these touts will end up paying parking bills or the taxman or in some other way 🙂 I still believe a ticket for face value will come my way!

  9. I was prepared to make the trip from Canada for these shows. Got up at 4:15am and tried for an hour and a half to no avail. Ticket line loaded once and I got all the payment details in only to be told there were no more tickets. How can these ticket sellers websites buckle under the strain when they have sales like these on a fairly regular basis. You’d think their servers would be bulletproof.
Oh well no tickets for Manchester maybe one of the other dates instead.

  10. Gutted! I spent from 9.30 till 11.00 trying to get through on websites and 3 phone numbers, got none! My husband went through Jumbo records thought he had 4 to have a confirmation email of tickets purchased ZERO! Wanted to treat him for his 40th in June as he is a massive massive fan! The prices they are asking on ebay is shocking!!!

  11. Booked the morning of worked for the soul intension of buying some roses tickets. Did I manage to buy any? Did I f%#k! Little pissed off to see them on eBay mins later for silly amount of money….

  12. @cw… That wasn’t my point! My point was that the system should be able to cope all the way through the process. I knew I hadn’t got the tickets but it does feel like I had them in my hand and someone skanked em lol!! Still gutted!!

  13. F***ing touts, WILL NOT LINE THEIR POCKETS!!!! IF WE ALL STUCK TOGETHER AND REFUSED TO PAY INFLATED PRICES THEY MAY JUST STOP. LOVE THAT PEOPLE ARE SILLING BIDDING ON EBAY AND NOT PAYING HA HA

  14. They should have done what Geldof did with the Live8 tickers: made it illegal to sell them over the odds on Ebay or anywhere else. A good few tickets will always get into touts grubby hands, but the amount they have for these gigs is offensive and an insult to real fans…. Also Ticketmaster’s already dubious reputaion should be be damaged beyond repair after Friday’s farce…

  15. Been a true fan since the beginning and thankfully i managed to bag a pair of tickets. Just out of curiosity i had a look on ebay and couldnt believe the prices people wanted for the spare tickets. Its really unfair for the fans who couldnt get hold of any. I would not part with mine for any amount of money! Feel sorry for you unlucky lot!

  16. Ticket sites will never do anything to combat the dirty touts because they just want to sell tickets. They could quite easily sell tickets with the buyers name printed on. Would solve it outright. I was lucky enough to bag a pair for Sunday. Keep up the good work on fleabay with the stupid bidding!

  17. Well i was unlucky on friday so devastated, as i love the music, I still really believe i/we’lll get to see them after all these years. happened,
The internet let me down on friday and the phone lines well what a joke!
i couldn’t buy any, i nearly got through.

Positive thinking we will be there defo, its our right!:)
maybe some people who bought them didnt really because of the state of the internet?

  18. Absolutely right: I too am going to bide my time and wait until the hype and hysteria have died down… Those Ebay scrotes will realise that they can’t rip intelligent people off…. The internet sellers and phonelines are a joke… Ticketmaster fucked up hugely, and now sites like Get Me In have tickets double the original price – With the Ticketmaster logo under the Get Me In banner! They are in cahoots, and they are bloody criminals!

  19. I got up at 0415am here in the States to get two tickets, fully intending to fly over to see at least one of the shows. I have three devices running on three websites for an hour, and didn’t get a single ticket to a single show…a lot of hotel deals and VIP packages…certainly not 220,000 tickets to the real fans…

  20. yeah I know, I have been scratching my head about who the hell are all these so called fans? am sure they weren’t this huge back in the 90’s? half were probably only 2 yrs old, any how..
They where mint but, not as hyped as they have been now, i’m glad am not the only one who thinks like this..
we will all be there you know we have to stay positive, you never know all good things..

  21. I agree: it’s just like last time… In 1988 I was laughed at for liking The Roses (and Mondays) by lads my own age who all worshipped shite like Level 42, Lloyd Cole, and Simple Minds, and ridiculed for my Roses-like style (Paisley shirt, flares). Then 12 months later all the c**ts are wearing bell bottoms, garish hoodies, and faking Manc walks and accents! I think Mark .E. Smith of The Fall got it right: The Roses were great and they did have genuine fans. But he (Smith) couldn’t stand all the Johnny Come Latelys with their ‘Stone Roses Uniforms’ and ‘Chip Pan Hairdos’… They were going to be massive in 1990 (the follow-up to One Love – had it come in 90 or 91 – would have made No.1!), but a lot of the so-called ballooning fanbase was because they had beoome trendy… I expect that the same thing is happening now… As you say: Stay positive….

  22. I feel gutted for my 3 sons who have been Stone Roses/Ian Brown fans for a long time, buying videos (yes, that far back), cds and t-shirts, etc as well as seeing Ian Brown in concert wherever possible. They have not been able to get a ticket yet they have to see tickets going at ridiculous prices on e-bay. Something really has to be done!

  23. tix for events like this should be sold the old fashioned way – at yoir local music shop/tkt dealer where you go & wait in a Q. Only then will the real fans be first.

  24. I would defitiely have got mine from Vibes Records in Bury. But it sadly closed recently.
I would have bben in town (Manchester) at the crack of dawn, just like I was for Spike Island and the 1995 Apollo Xmas show… But a lot of fans here in Mcr are gutted because they were let down by Ticketmaster and their ilk… All these Hotel and Hospitality packages have also probably deprived working class fans of a good few places… And you can bet your life Heaton Park will be visited for the first (and only!) time by celebrities and VIPs en masse… Like Spud Faced Nipper and the WGT (United fans will know who they are!).

  25. Love the roses hate see tickets, 4 tickets cancelled 2 weeks after confirmation, and after accommodation and travel arranged, rip off merchants

  26. I paid over the odds for a hospitality (as I couldn’t get a normal ticket) but atleast I never paid the touts. I’m a proper fan, first seen them live in 89 and my logic is I can financially afford it more to see it than I could emotionally afford to miss it. It’s disgusting the way the tickets sold out so quickly then instantly appeared on ebay though.

  27. Awesome issues here. I am very satisfied to peer your article. Thank you so much and I’m having a look ahead to touch you. Will you kindly drop me a mail?

  28. appreciated this post and i don’t want to be that individual… however i do feel that possibly your website would look a bit better if you would have a litte brown on it. Simply just my advice, definitely appreciated the post otherwise 🙂 Sincerely.

  29. THIS WEDNESDAY AT REVOLUTION WILMSLOW FROM 9PM WE WILL BE AUCTIONING 2 X STONE ROSES TICKETS FOR THE KIRSTY CLUB FUNDRAISER IN AID OF FRANCIS HOUSE!
